A bridal touch-up kit should hold your lip colour, blotting papers, a small powder, pins, hairspray, tissues and comfort items. An all-day touch-up service is worth it when your day is long, photo-heavy or spread across locations, because a professional keeps makeup and hair looking fresh.
Your wedding makeup and hair can look beautiful from morning to night, but only if you are prepared for the small moments: a happy tear, a hug, a toast, a breeze. A thoughtful touch-up kit, and sometimes a professional, keeps everything effortless.
What should be in a bridal touch-up kit?
A good kit is small and focused. It needs your lip colour, blotting papers, a pressed powder, a few pins, a mini hairspray and tissues, plus a couple of comfort items.
Here is the core list I recommend:
- Lip colour and lip liner: the exact shades from your trial, as lips are the first thing to fade
- Lip balm: for comfort between drinks
- Blotting papers: to remove shine without disturbing makeup
- Pressed powder or a small loose powder with a puff: applied lightly where needed
- Cotton buds and tissues: to tidy smudges
- Mini concealer: for any surprise blemish or tired eyes
I ask my brides to take a photo of the products used on their face at the trial, so you can match them later. My article on the bridal makeup trial explains what we test.

What hair items should I pack?
For hair, pack bobby pins in your colour, a few hair elastics, a mini hairspray and a small brush or comb. These fix most surprises quickly.
- Pins that match your hair colour, since they disappear into the style
- A travel-size flexible-hold hairspray
- A small comb or soft brush for flyaways
- A spare elastic or two, in case you need to change a style for dancing
If you wear a veil, flowers or a headpiece, bring the extra pins or clips used to fix them. I style veils and accessories as part of the optional all-day service, and you can read more about the details in veil and hair accessories.
Which comfort and emergency items are worth carrying?
Comfort items prevent small problems from becoming big. Think of things that protect your dress, your feet and your mood.
- A small sewing kit and safety pins
- Plasters for feet and a pair of comfortable shoes for the party
- Deodorant, a mini perfume and mints
- Tissues and a handkerchief for happy tears
- A phone charger, water bottle and snacks
- Stain remover pen for a drop of wine or food
Pick one trusted person, such as a bridesmaid or your mother, to hold the bag. I wrote a guide for them too in bridesmaids and mother of the bride makeup.
How do I adjust the kit for the season?
Adjust the kit to the weather: shine control and sun care in summer, hydration and lip care in winter. The same products can behave differently depending on temperature and wind.
In warm weather, add extra blotting papers, a hydrating mist and sunscreen for exposed skin. In cold weather, add a richer lip balm, hand cream and a hairband or wrap that does not flatten your style. My posts on wedding makeup in Danish weather go into this in detail.
When is an all-day touch-up service worth it?
An all-day touch-up service is worth it when your wedding day is long, spread across several locations, or full of photographs. A professional on hand means your look stays refreshed while you enjoy the day.
It tends to make the most sense if:
- The ceremony, portraits and party are hours apart
- You are marrying outdoors, in heat, wind or cold
- You wear a veil, flowers or detailed hair accessories that need adjusting
- You want the same look in the evening as in the first pictures
- You would rather not think about makeup at all

What does the all-day service include?
My optional all-day service covers touch-ups through the ceremony, portraits and party, plus styling for your veil, pins, flowers and accessories. I know how things look on camera, so I notice what the lens will notice.
This service is available on request and has no fixed price, because it depends on your timeline and location. The core bridal package, makeup and hair together, is listed on the packages section. Write to me with your schedule and I will suggest the most sensible plan, from a few touch-ups after the ceremony to full coverage through the evening.
How do I use the kit without ruining my makeup?
Touch up lightly and in this order: blot first, then powder only where needed, then add lip colour last. Heavy layering is what makes makeup look tired, so less is nearly always better.
Press blotting paper gently onto the forehead, nose and chin instead of rubbing. Use a clean puff for powder and tap off the excess. Reapply lip colour with a small brush or lip liner first, so the edges stay crisp. Check your reflection in natural light if you can, since indoor lighting can mislead you. Do all of this before photographs rather than after, so the pictures show the freshest version of you.
Can I do it all myself, or should I hire help?
You can absolutely manage with a good kit and a trusted helper, and many brides do. If you want to be fully present, or the schedule is demanding, a professional is a lovely luxury.
A middle path also works: I do your makeup and hair in the morning, you carry a simple kit, and I join for the first part of the day. My guide to bridal makeup prices in Copenhagen helps you weigh the options, and you can contact me through the contact section. I travel across Copenhagen, Greater Copenhagen and Zealand, in English or Danish.
Quick questions
What is the most important item in a bridal touch-up kit?
Your exact lip colour, because lips fade first with eating, drinking and kissing. Blotting papers and a light powder come next for shine, and pins for hair.
Who should carry the touch-up kit on the wedding day?
Choose one trusted person, such as a bridesmaid or relative, and give them a short list of when to use each item. A small bag keeps it easy.
When is an all-day touch-up service worth booking?
It is worth it for long days, several locations, outdoor weather or detailed veils and flowers. It lets you stay present while your look is kept fresh.
How much does the all-day touch-up service cost?
It is available on request and priced according to your schedule and location, so please send me your timeline. Standard bridal prices are on the packages section.
